Andean guan
Its name comes from the Greek Penelops which means duck type with purple stripes and montagnii comes from Frenchman Jean Pierre François Camille Montagne, who was a surgeon and botanist. It is widely distributed throughout much of South America, being found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. In Colombia it is found from 2200 to 3400 m above sea level in the "Serranía de Perijá", in the Eastern mountain range and in the Central mountain range from the knot of the pastures to the department of Caldas.
